Description

Join an unforgettable, small group tour and visit one of Croatia's most beautiful national parks. On the way to the National Park, there will be a stop at the picturesque watermill village of Rastoke. The Plitvice Lakes National Park was included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1979. Founded in 1949 as Croatia's first national park to protect its breathtaking natural beauty – a phenomenon of karst hydrogeology. The national park is actually a series of 16 lakes constantly changing color from turquoise to green and grey to blue. The whole area was created by a natural process of travertine barrier deposition, and now forms a superb symphony of lakes, waterfalls and surrounding woods with wildlife. Visitors can experience this beautiful rare phenomenon of water and karst by walking the 8 kilometer long trails and wooden bridges or by taking a ride by boat or electric train (if the weather conditions permit).
