Plitvice Lakes National Park is the largest national park in Croatia spanning across nearly 300 kilometers of cascading waterfalls, forested hills, and wooden paths and bridges.
In 1949, the park opened its doors to eager tourists and locals alike finally able to uncover the beauty of Plitvice via enchanting paths and routes, tracing through the park. Today the park features over 8 km of wooden paths and bridges allowing visitors to safely view the beauty of Plitvice. Plitvice Lakes is one of Croatia's greatest tourist attractions adding to its significance with its inscription as a Natural World Heritage UNESCO site in 1979. 16 famous lakes dance across the park's forested hills and valleys and form mesmerizing waterfalls.
Recreational activities include guided hiking tours, boat rides, train excursions, cycling, rowing and kayaking in the warmer months, and even skiing in the winter months. Traditional restaurants and cafes are also situated within the park and on the outskirts of the park in small neighboring towns, along with accommodation options as well.
