Description
Your day begins with pickup from your Dubrovnik accommodation. After leaving the Old City’s terracotta rooftops, travel along the scenic Adriatic coastline. Observe the landscape change from rugged Dalmatian cliffs to the fertile, green Neretva Delta, known as the 'Green Pearl' of the Adriatic, with its canals and mandarin groves.
Crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina, the route continues through the Herzegovina karst’s rolling hills to Medjugorje, a site of spiritual significance since 1981. The tour includes an ascent of Apparition Hill (Podbrdo) to the location of the first apparitions, followed by time at St. James Church where you may join the Holy Mass in English.
Apparition Hill marks the spot where six children reported their first encounter with a figure identified as the Virgin Mary, the 'Queen of Peace.' Walk the path of early pilgrims, pause at the Blue Cross at the hill’s base, and reflect at the bronze reliefs of the Mysteries of the Rosary along the way. Many choose to reach the summit, where a white marble statue of Our Lady overlooks the landscape and the twin towers of St. James Church.
After the hill visit, enjoy free time in the village to view the Risen Christ statue, explore local shops for religious items, or spend time reflecting. The return journey to Dubrovnik offers comfortable transport to end your spiritual day.
