Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Angels

Croatia

Located 150 meters above sea level the views are absolutely stunning so don't forget to bring your camera!

The Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Angels is a stunning architectural masterpiece, a sacrilegious building perched upon the hill overlooking the town of Orebić. The Gothic-Renaissance church was built in the 14 th century and endured a tumultuous history. Bombed in the 1940's, survived a major earthquake in the 1960's and was a target in the most recent War of Independence in the 90's. Regardless of these attacks and natural disasters this holy building has been extremely well-preserved and is a beautiful place to visit. The church itself is a stunning stone building, with a large bell tower and a roman catholic cemetery beside it. In front of the church is a lookout point which provides picturesque panoramic views of the town of Orebić, the islands of Korčula, Mljet and Lastovo along with the Pelješac channel.

Today regular mass services are held in the church Our Lady of Angels along with other cultural events.
