Description
Experience one of Croatia's most beautiful landscapes on a tour along the Zrmanja River—a perfect combination of relaxation, nature, and unforgettable photo opportunities. This excursion takes you deep into a spectacular canyon, offering breathtaking views, crystal-clear water, and a peaceful escape from crowded tourist routes.
The tour begins in the charming coastal town of Novigrad, where guests meet the skipper and board a comfortable, safe boat designed for small groups. After a short welcome and introduction, we set off toward the river mouth, where the sea slowly blends into the calm freshwater of the Zrmanja River.
As we enter the river, the scenery changes dramatically. Towering limestone cliffs rise on both sides, forming a 100-meter-deep canyon carved by nature over thousands of years. The slow, quiet ride allows guests to fully enjoy the surroundings—perfect for photography and pure relaxation.
The route continues upstream through approximately 12 km of canyon, passing traditional stone ruins and hidden corners of the river. Along the way, the skipper shares interesting stories about the river, local history, and life in this unique karst region.
The tour reaches the historic town of Obrovac, where nature and tradition meet, offering wonderful photo opportunities and a glimpse into authentic Dalmatian heritage.
One of the highlights of the tour is a longer stop near Jankovica buk, a natural waterfall and river pool surrounded by greenery and cliffs. Guests can enjoy swimming in fresh, clean river water, relax on the boat, or capture stunning photos of this hidden gem. Don't forget your swimsuit and towel.
On the return journey, the boat slowly cruises back through the canyon, stopping at the most scenic spots for photos. With a bit of luck, you may spot griffon vultures soaring above the cliffs—a truly memorable sight.
