Description

Split is the second largest city in Croatia and the main cultural and economic center of Dalmatia. The city is built around the palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian, one of Europe's best-preserved Roman monuments listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.

The historic city core features narrow streets full of Mediterranean character, along with numerous museums and galleries showcasing artistic and historical collections. Explore Split’s famous waterfront promenade, the Riva, to experience the local atmosphere.

The trip starts with a pick-up from your pre-arranged meeting point or hotel in Makarska. The one-hour drive to Split passes through scenic coastal towns in an air-conditioned vehicle. Upon arrival, you will have four hours of free time to explore the city at your own pace.

A driver will provide brochures, a city map, and interesting facts about Split. Key sites to visit include Emperor's Square (Peristil), the Cathedral of St. Domnius, Prokurative Square, and the Mestrovic Gallery. At noon, you can witness the changing of Diocletian’s guards, featuring the Emperor's appearance and salute.
