Description

I'm PATRICIA, an official Spanish-speaking Dubrovnik tour guide. I lead guided visits of the city and its surroundings, accompanying you to discover the 'Pearl of the Adriatic.' Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful medieval cities on the Mediterranean, was included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1979. Dubrovnik is a monument in its own right, and as an urban complex, it has transcended all national and continental borders, being known worldwide for its extraordinary state of preservation. I'll be waiting for you at BRSALJE (next to the ARMERLINGO water fountain) to begin the sightseeing tour towards the Pile Gate, which will take us to its elegant main street, 'Stradun', passing by all the most important sites of cultural and historical interest: the Franciscan Monastery, which dates back to 1317 and whose museum houses one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe; the Large Onofrio's Fountain and the Small Onofrio's Fountain; Sponza Palace, the city's former customs house; Orlando's Column; the Church of St. Blaise or Sveti Vlaho, the city's heavenly patron; the Rector's Palace; the Jesuit complex, where the Baroque Church of St. Ignace is located; the Jewish Quarter; the Santo Domingo Monastery; and the old harbor, from where you can see the fortresses of St. Ivan and Revelin, as well as the large Arsenal. We'll also walk along Od Puča Street, where there are numerous jewelry stores run by local goldsmiths — gold and silver have been and continue to be very important in this region, along with navigation — as well as other important and interesting places to visit. We will finish the sightseeing tour (lasting approximately 2 hours or perhaps less) at the Large Onofrio's Fountain. As the famous British playwright George Bernard Shaw wrote, 'Those who seek paradise on earth should come to Dubrovnik.'
