Description

Leave behind the buzz of Zagreb and set out on a scenic journey through the heart of the Julian Alps in Slovenia. Discover emerald lakes, alpine villages, and dramatic peaks on a full-day tour that takes you across the Slovenian border to Lake Bled, Ribčev Laz, Savica Waterfall and Lake Bohinj. Begin your adventure in the early morning as you depart from Zagreb in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan. As you leave Croatia’s capital behind, the landscape gradually changes — rolling hills give way to forested slopes and crisp alpine air. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating stories about Slovenia’s history, culture, and traditions. After a 2.5 hour drive arrive at Ribčev Laz, a small village that feels untouched by time. Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Bohinj, Ribčev Laz offers an authentic glimpse into traditional Slovenian life. The centerpiece of the village is the Church of St. John the Baptist, a 13th-century stone church famous for its beautifully preserved frescoes and serene atmosphere. Take your time to stroll through the village, chat with locals, or simply breathe in the fresh alpine air. This peaceful stop captures the charm and simplicity of mountain life; quiet, welcoming, and deeply connected to nature. Just a few minutes away lies Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest natural lake and a true hidden gem. Surrounded by towering peaks and lush forests, Bohinj is wilder, quieter, and more untouched than its famous neighbor, Bled. Continue deeper into Triglav National Park, where nature truly takes center stage. After a short, scenic drive along winding mountain roads, you’ll arrive at the starting point for a gentle hike to one of the area’s most stunning viewpoints — the spectacular Savica Waterfall, hidden deep within the forest. This impressive cascade, plunging 78 meters down a rocky cliff, forms the source of the Sava Bohinjka River and stands as one of Slovenia’s most iconic natural wonders. The trail winds through lush alpine woods, filled with the scent of pine and the soothing sound of rushing water. From there, we’ll head back to Lake Bled, one of the most photographed places in Central Europe. There you’ll have a few hours of free time to explore at your own pace. You can take a traditional Pletna boat ride, a wooden vessel rowed by local oarsmen whose skill has been passed down for generations. For those who prefer panoramic views, visit Bled Castle, perched dramatically on a 130-meter cliff. The castle’s terraces offer sweeping views over the lake and surrounding mountains. Inside, explore exhibits that tell the story of Bled’s long and colorful past, from medieval times to modern tourism. You can also rent a bike to cycle around the lake, or take a panoramic train ride to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area. As the day slowly comes to an end, relax and enjoy the drive back toward Zagreb.
