DescriptionTraditional Croatian cuisine is wide and varied making it difficult to distinguish dishes that are exclusive to Croatia. Croatian food has been influenced by tastes and traditions from neighboring countries, and different nations that ruled territory of Croatia throughout history. Peka is one of the most famous local dishes in Dalmatia, especially in the countryside. The preparation of Peka takes place in a special area usually situated on the ground floor of the house or a barn. Meat and vegetables are prepared in a pot or a tray and put into the cinder of a fireplace. It takes some time to prepare it, but it is worth the wait as the ingredients will have melted together to create a small paradise for the palate! You have the option to choose between two kinds of meat: octopus or veal.
