Description
Rafting on the Cetina River is a popular and adventurous trip in Dalmatia. Rafting in the protected area of the river canyon attracts many tourists every summer. The quiet parts of the river and the second and third grade rapids enable a 3-hour combination of adventure and relaxation in the amazing Cetina river canyon. Your journey through the crystal green waters of the Cetina River ends in Blato na Cetini village, where you will have free time for other activities. Begin the day at Diocletian’s Palace in the center of Split and then get into an air-conditioned minivan for the brief ride to the Cetina River. Stop to admire the river from the top of the canyon before learning the proper white-water rafting technique and getting all your safety equipment, including a life jacket and a helmet. The water temperature varies from 57 to 62 degrees Fahrenheit (14 to 17 degrees Celsius), so a wet suit is provided. The rafts hold up to 7 people plus the skipper. As you paddle down the river, take in the views of the Croatian countryside and the moss-covered walls of the canyon that flanks the river. Expect the flow to change, going from calm to slightly rough and then placid again. Don’t forget you can jump off the raft and take a swim. The distance will be about 7 miles (11 kilometers) in total. After 3 hours on the river, paddle to shore and finish your raft ride at a traditional bread-making restaurant called Radmanove Mlinice. After using the restaurant’s facilities to freshen up, take a well-earned rest in the garden. Refuel with a lunch at your own expense. After freshening up, board the minivan for the hour-long journey back to Split.
