Beautiful hotel, great location with easy walk into Old Town Rovinj. Staff is friendly and attentive. Rooms are lovely, we had a room overlooking the water with a plunge pool on balcony. That was ideal given our visit was in July and it was very warm & humid. There is a small but well equipped gym, great outdoor pool with plenty of lounge chairs. Great breakfast each morning - plenty of healthy options, so much variety. We would definitely stay here again on a future visit.
A 5-star, world class hotel where we had a fantastic stay (with a couple of niggles..more later). The facilities are amazing, the view astounding, and the staff are, as you expect, absolutely top class. I highly recommend booking the sea view room with private plunge pool...one of the best rooms we've ever stayed in ! There were a couple of issues that we had which are worth mentioning ; -check in was rather uncomfortable and unprofessional. A trainee at the desk (not her fault) advised us at 13.00 that our room wasn't ready...that's fine and understandable...and that we should 'go away and she would call us when the room was ready'. No call came sadly, and we spent a tiring couple of hours waiting for it. When we went back to the reception desk, a different colleague got rather flustered as she couldn't work out pre-payment details...meaning that the hotel information she gave us was almost non-existent, and we didn't receive a welcome drink. On top of that, our luggage...which we saw sitting next to the reception desk....wasn't delivered to our room for over 30 minutes. The luggage should have been in our room before we got there. It's not a deal breaker, but a hotel of this standard maybe needs to tighten up it's check in procedures. -the hotel allows dogs. They were in the breakfast room and in the corridors. Be aware of that. -also be aware that despite it's exclusivity, this is not an 'adults only' hotel. At this time of year the hotel is packed with families, and the breakfast room often resembled a school canteen. It's not a criticism, just an observation, but it's worth noting that if you expect a peaceful and relaxed vacation at this point in the year, you might end up like us with 2 very young children in the room next door and the consequences that that entails. But overall, we had an excellent stay. But I doubt if we'd return in July or August.
What happened to Maistra? There is a trend online of folks noticing a significant drop in quality in Maistra hotels in Rovinj and I had a chance to experience the same on my stay in July of 2026. Magistrate and its hotels used to be a beacon of unique tourist experience, a proper attempt at a fight against the corporate multinational approach to hotel industry. Sadly, it seems that beacon has lost its shine to corporate greed itself and it will not be surprising when Hilton or Marriot takes them over. Grand Park Hotel is a spectacular property in a spectacular location. For that, you pay a hefty price and in another (pre-shrinkflation) world you would expect and receive impeccable service in a meticulously maintained hotel. The reality is that the service ranges from exceptional to staff ignoring you. Poor maintenance resulted in sewer backup with associated lingering smells in the hallway (especially floor 1). Triage fixes such as fans (see pic) do nothing. Beautifully furnished bathroom is a place you will want to spend least time possible since the lack of ventilation and the already mentioned plumbing issue creates an aroma of a ripe gym lockerroom. The view is also not there as it is obstructed by unfortunately placed pine trees. Our attempt to change rooms was met with an anemic explanation that the hotel is full and a luke warm promise that if anything opens up they will let us know.
Just far enough from old town to feel secluded but close enough to feel in the middle of it all. The locations was outstanding - adjacent to a trail where you can pick you place to enter the sea for a dip or lie out in the sun, a short stroll to old town for culture, history, food and exploring the the small alleys that lead to the Adriatic. The service was excellent and the breakfast at the hotel was the best I have had at any hotel. Every thing provided was premium - from the prosciutto to daily fresh sliced charcuterie, fresh juices, extensive gluten free options and à la carte menu for hot breakfast options. All while overlooking old town, sailboats across the horizon and windswept trees in the distance. Will be an unforgettable stay for anyone who decides to visit.
We have just spent five wonderful nights at this exceptional hotel. The views are truly breathtaking and unlike anything we have experienced before. The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The rooms were clean, spacious, and tastefully furnished, creating a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The plunge pool on the large terrace was a refreshing addition and perfect for cooling off during the day. Given the generous size of the terrace, adding a sun lounger would make the outdoor space even more enjoyable. The food was excellent, and we particularly appreciated that breakfast was served until 12:00 noon. This gave us the flexibility to exercise or enjoy other activities before breakfast, which was a real luxury. Despite the hotel being almost fully booked, waiting times for a table on the terrace were minimal. The only area with some room for improvement was the consistency of a few breakfast dishes. For example, the porridge was absolutely outstanding on one occasion, but on another day it was rather thin and watery. A little fine-tuning here would make an already excellent breakfast experience even better. The prices for food and beverages were more than reasonable for a five-star hotel. In fact, for whisky lovers, some of the selections were surprisingly well priced compared to other luxury hotels. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and created many wonderful memories. We would gladly return and highly recommend this hotel to others.
