I really wanted to love this restaurant. The food was outstanding and the evening began with an incredible welcome from the team. They accommodated a pescatarian diet on their tasting menu with ease. As more guests continued to arrive and tables filled, the service became much less attentive. I was poured the wrong wine pairing for a course, but they immediateIy corrected it when brought to their attention. I waited more than 30 minutes after the end of my final course and even mentioned to one of the wait staff that I was looking to pay my bill. He acknowledged me and continued to move onto a different table and pour them more wine. At that point, I got up from my seat and walked over to the bar area with the computer payment terminal and asked to pay. When I shared that I had been waiting for 30 minutes, the wait staff said that he did not notice when he kept looking over at me. Meanwhile, my water glass, my wine glass and my plate had all been empty for that time period. The final piece was when I went to pay and asked if they took American Express. His response was that “nowhere” in Croatia takes American Express. I kindly responded that I’ve been in Croatia for seven days and that at least 50% or more of businesses have accepted American Express. It’s not an issue that they don’t, as I’m happy to pay with my Visa, but their response needs to form a more accurate statement. I spent over €200 dining for one person, the food was excellent. The elevated terrace was very nice and at the end of my visit I was extremely disappointed by the service provided.
This dinner was great! We ended up going without a reservation and are so happy they were able to fit us in. Food was excellent, and the service was wonderful. We had our favorite Croatian wine at this dinner, as recommended by the Somm. We selected the silver menu, and our group of 4 tried all different dishes. There was plenty of variation, and each dish was better than the next!!
Overall, a great experience. Some courses lacked the “wow” factor, but overall the menu was creative and enjoyable. The highlights were definitely the sea urchin, ravioli and the octopus — all exceptional. The biggest miss was the bread, which was quite dry and chewy. It was also a bit odd to receive a sweet palate cleanser before the entrée. The dessert was ok. Putting something that is not edible on it (the star anise) was odd. Service was friendly and fast.
