Description

Enjoy a 3-hour private walking tour of the old city of Dubrovnik and of its City Walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Starting at Pile Gate, you’ll walk along the city’s elegant main street and see its most important sights. Highlights include the Franciscan Monastery, Onofrio`s Fountains, Sponza Palace, Orlando`s Column, the Bell Tower, the Church of St. Blaise, the Rector’s Palace, the Cathedral, the City Wall and more. The old city is surrounded by more than a mile of walls, with a tower at each corner. Take a stroll along Stradun, the centuries-old main promenade. At one end of this street you’ll admire the 14th-Century Franciscan Monastery, whose cloister ranks among the most inspiring sites in the city. At the other end, you’ll see the church of St. Blaise, the Sponza Palace, the Dominican Monastery, and the Rector's Palace. After exploring Dubrovnik’s historical heritage, your guide will take you to Santa Maria, the oldest district of the city, where you’ll experience the real Dubrovnik. Discover the hidden quarter of Buza, frequented almost exclusively by the locals. Here the door of St. Stjepan opens to reveal a view over white rocks and blue sea to Lokrum Island. On the way back to Stradun, you’ll visit Ulica od Puca, a street best known for its traditional jewelry shops, old barber shops, and small churches. The most recognizable feature which defines the physiognomy of the historic city of Dubrovnik and gives it its characteristic appearance, famous all over the world, are its intact city walls, which run uninterrupted for 1940 metres encircling the city. This complex structure, one of the most beautifull and strongest fort Systems in the Mediterranean, consists of series of forts, bastions, casemates, towers, and detached forts.
