Couple of days ago, we had a wonderful experience at this seafood restaurant. Even though we arrived just an hour before closing and were the only guests, the staff welcomed us warmly and never made us feel rushed. Our waiter Alex was exceptionally attentive. True professional I would say. He took the time to recommend dishes, and every suggestion turned out to be excellent. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It’s rare to receive such thoughtful service so close to closing time. We truly appreciated the hospitality and would gladly return. Highly recommended!
Our dining experience at Konoba Primošten in Zagreb was nothing short of extraordinary. We initiated this culinary voyage with the lobster and European lobster salad—an incredibly fresh, profoundly refined, and impeccably executed appetizer that immediately set an exceptionally high standard for the rest of the evening. For the pièce de résistance, the gilt-head sea bream (orada) served alongside traditional Swiss chard and potatoes was an absolute masterclass in seafood preparation. The fish was roasted to sheer perfection: incredibly succulent, wonderfully juicy, and bursting with the pristine, natural flavors of the Adriatic, while the Swiss chard provided the ultimate, authentic accompaniment. To culminate this remarkable feast, we opted for the traditional cream caramele, which served as a sublime, velvety conclusion to our meal. What truly distinguishes this phenomenal establishment is its unparalleled selection of extraordinarily fresh Adriatic fish and shellfish; the magnificent quality of the ingredients resonates deeply within every single bite. I cannot recommend Konoba Primošten highly enough to anyone seeking a sophisticated, genuinely authentic taste of Dalmatian cuisine right here in Zagreb. This is culinary craftsmanship at its finest, and it is, without a doubt, an establishment to which we shall enthusiastically return time and time again!
We visited Konoba Primošten during Restaurant Week, which naturally set our expectations at a moderate level rather than anything extraordinary. The menu offered a solid selection of seafood-focused dishes, with starters including creamy fish soup with croutons, octopus and mussel salad, mussels in buzara sauce, fried anchovies with radicchio, crab claws with Swiss chard purée, and pljukanci pasta with asparagus and prosciutto. For main courses, the options ranged from swordfish in Mediterranean herb cream with potatoes, grilled sea bream with vegetables and capers, bavette pasta with clams and scallops, black risotto, ribeye steak in mushroom cream with croquettes, to vegetable patties with pumpkin in pesto cream and fried arugula. We tried the octopus and mussel salad and the pljukanci with asparagus and prosciutto as starters, followed by the swordfish and the ribeye steak as main courses. The food was prepared quickly and tasted good overall. The service was efficient and attentive, and the atmosphere felt pleasantly intimate, which added to the experience. That said, the dishes didn’t particularly stand out or leave a lasting impression. Considering the price point, especially within the Restaurant Week offer, the experience felt fair and enjoyable. This is a place we would recommend if you’re looking for a reasonably priced, decent meal in a cozy setting, just don’t expect anything particularly remarkable.
The food was delicious — fresh, flavorful. The service was just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and professional from start to finish. You can really tell they care about both the quality of their dishes and making guests feel welcome. Highly recommended!
