We visited on a nice day in July. The town is nice and the history is really interesting. The experience is kind of broken and feels like a cash grab. You are left with grabbing a bite to eat or walking around the edge of town. Too bad because this could be so much more.

Rastoke is truly a hidden gem and one of the most beautiful places I visited in Croatia. The old houses built right above the crystal-clear river, the waterfalls, and the peaceful atmosphere make it feel like something out of a fairytale. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can sit by the water, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. The main waterfall is absolutely stunning, and there are lots of scenic spots for photos. It's connected to the town of Slunj, so it's worth taking a walk through the charming old town as well. When I visited, I didn't have to pay any entrance fee to explore Rastoke itself—I could freely walk around and only paid for food and coffee. Keep in mind that there is now an optional paid circular walking route ("Water Secrets") for access to some additional viewpoints and the Korana canyon, but much of Rastoke can still be explored for free. Overall, it's a peaceful place that's definitely worth stopping at, especially if you're on your way to or from Plitvice Lakes.

Rustic and fairy tales like city. It does have its own uniqueness especially with the waterfalls running down from houses. Yet, there is nothing more to it. Sure, there are some bar and streams but I am not fond of such. Good to experience once. I got to see firefly for the first time in life! Free public parking after 6PM. Watch for mosquitoes and small snakes.

Stunning little village very picturesque with all the waterfalls running through it! Definitely worth the visit when going up to Plitvice Lakes from Zagreb. There was an entrance fee to enjoy some of the offerings of the village but the entrance only opened at 11am (when we arrived it was closed but the village had very much to offer for free)

Lovely place, parking is limited and difficult and we visited off season, you can park in a larger carpark up in the town centre and walk down. Being early May a lot of the smaller shops and places to look round were not open, the restaurants along the river offer great views whilst you have lunch.
