The service was extraordinary. The rooms were clean. The breakfast buffet was expansive. The pool had nice features (bubble seats and water fall). It was also a short walk to the Adriatic Sea for swimming. The trip to the Pile Gate (old city) was 10-15 minutes by car. I have to mention again that the staff was friendly and helpful.
Overall great hotel. Rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Staff are attentive. Very spacious complex, never feel like you’re on top of people. Food is a bit of a let down here, don’t get me wrong very tasty, but not much choice and quite often the popular items run out and it takes a while for them to replenish. Room cleaning also isn’t brilliant but the basics are covered.
Just back from a fab 10 day holiday at the Valamar Argosy, there was lots to like! Great hotel, very friendly staff, clean, modern, good food and comfy beds. We had the choice of the main buffet restaurant or the Oliva grill. We ate in the buffet most nights and lunched in the Oliva. There are 2 main pools with excellent views out over the approaches to Dubrovnik harbour. The old town is stunning and dead easy to get to as the hotel is the end stop for bus no. 6. It's a 2 minute walk from the hotel to the bus stop and the last stop, about a 10 minute ride away, is Dubrovnik old town. Top tip, buy a Dubrovnik card to save money on bus rides and access to the city walls. Walking the walls is a great thing to do, we went around 4-5 in the afternoon when the cruise ship passengers had all gone and the walls were pleasantly quiet. The old town is simply stunning, which is amazing considering it was shelled heavily in the war just 30 years ago. We spent hours just walking the backstreets. We ate at restaurant Marco Polo one evening and enjoyed an excellent meal, highly recommended. The Valamar staff really were tremendous. Our thanks goes to Nikola, Kristijan, Philipe and Petra for making our holiday special as well as Javanna V for teaching us a few words of Croatian..zivjeli!
Beautiful hotel, service, food, drinks, all lovely, although drinks a bit expensive. Definitely 4star, although not much atmosphere. No background music by the pool during day, it’s great if you want peace & quiet, the views are spectacular, best I’ve ever seen. Evening entertainment a bit boring, same every night. Could do more in entertainment both day & night. Close to bars on bus so not so bad. Overall holiday was excellent.
